Study of LGBT Jewish Needs

This Needs Assessment of the San Francisco Bay Area LGBT Jewish Community was conducted from 2008 – 2009 and published in 2010 by Jewish Mosaic: The National Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity an organization that merged with Keshet in 2010. The research for this study was directed by Dr. Caryn Aviv with support from Gregg Drinkwater as well as Dr. Wendy Rosov. The LGBT Alliance Planning and Advisory Group of the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay and the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund of San Francisco, The Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties advised the work between 2008 and 2010 under the staff direction of Karen Bluestone, Rabbi James Brandt, Samuel Strauss and Lisa Finkelstein.

This study is recognized as the crucial first step of the broad-based community planning effort towards the creation of Celebrating Distinctions, A LGBT Alliance Strategic Plan and was made possible by the generous supporters of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, The Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay, Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund and the Walter & Elise Haas Fund.
