celebrating distinctions

Hundreds of leaders were actively involved in this strategic planning process that led to this document, Celebrating Distinctions, including lay leaders, academic researchers, parents, nonprofit professionals, Jewish educators and rabbis. This work is the direct result of a broad-based community planning effort stemming from the LGBT Study directed by Dr. Caryn Aviv. The additional research for this work was conducted by Samuel Strauss and Lisa Finkelstein in 45 one-on-one meetings with key community stakeholders.

A call to action has been stated in this plan, and it is incumbent upon everyone in the community to respond. The work that went into this plan was made possible by the generous supporters of the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund of San Francisco, The Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay, Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund and the Walter & Elise Haas Fund. For ease at reading this document you can download this publication, view it on our Federation and Endowment Fund website or find it archived at The Berman Jewish Policy Archive at New York Universities Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
